The Silent Choir of Art: How Creation Awakens Our Humanity

Art, music, poetry, painting, sculpture, film, and performance—what do they all have in common? They emerge from within us, breathing life into what might seem impractical but, in reality, has the power to move, uplift, and release emotions. Art plays on the strings of our internal harps, creating a melody unique to each of us, yet together forming an omnipresent choir of human expression. With this awakened melody, we are truly alive. Silent singing makes a difference in us, in the masses, and accelerates transformation.

In Poland, there is a saying: “Sztuka łagodzi obyczaje”—art softens customs. It invites contemplation, allowing us to digest our own humanity and existence. Scents, too, are an art form; anything that engages our senses can be. By this definition, nature itself is art, a masterpiece sculpted by life.

Rethinking Perception, Beliefs, and Social Consensus

The way we perceive the world and move through it is largely dictated by what we collectively agree upon and believe. But revisiting our beliefs and societal norms should not be based solely on scientific discoveries; reflection and observation matter just as much.

For me, a constant source of inspiration is cats. Animals in general—of which we are undeniably a part—don’t require a social contract to coexist. They rely on instinct and an inner knowledge that guides them in how to move, how to live. Spontaneous decisions, whether for survival or social interaction, don’t require elaborate rules, training, or rationalization. They simply happen.

The same applies to artists who tap into this raw wisdom and channel it into paper, film, music, sculpture, canvas, or theater. When they succeed in capturing their vision, they often feel fulfilled. But evaluating one’s own work introduces interference to what should remain a spontaneous or meticulously crafted process. Animals don’t dwell on such things—they live in the present, knowing when to drink, eat, mate, hunt, or care for their young. Their social structures vary by species, but they all exist within a natural balance.

Art as a Bridge Between Instinct and Awareness

Humanity complicates its existence by layering rules meant to protect us from ourselves. This, in turn, deepens the divide between individuals and groups who live in parallel realities dictated by different values, beliefs, moralities, and levels of existential fear.

Art can be the bridge—a safety valve that connects us to both beauty and chaos. If we view existence on a spectrum between animals and gods, instinct and awareness, where does art belong? Closer to the divine? Yet, it would not exist without instinct and the ability to decide what to create.

Artists infuse their works with charisma and personal worlds, building a bridge between mundane reality and the desired one—even in the face of controversy. Let’s learn from animals: simplicity, trust in instincts, and confidence in our choices. Let’s immerse ourselves in art—not just by observing it, but by creating it. Whether through pottery, decoupage, woodworking, filmmaking, or any form of expression that resonates with us, art serves as a cleansing filter, allowing us to gain perspective on life.

Encouraging this mindset is challenging because words cannot fully capture what we experience through creation. It must be lived, felt.

To simply be—without excessive embellishments or drama—is an art form in itself.
